Dress for Success!

Times are tougher then ever in today's job market. It is crucial to dress to impress for every interview you attend. First impressions are made within the first ten seconds of meeting someone. Should you be judged by what you wear? Unfortunately you are so here are some tips on dressing for success...

1. Keep it simple
The last thing you need in a nerve racking interview is to be distracted by your wardrobe. Wear solid colored pieces that coordinate and visually complement each other. Keep jewelry and makeup to a minimum. This also includes having your hair pulled back and away from your face in a professional manner.

2.Keep it classy
Keep the girls in, unless you are interviewing for a Hooters job. Also, be aware of the length of your hemline. Even though it might look long enough when standing, your skirt/dress might ride up and show your "Britney" once seated (Not a good first impression).

3. Wear a watch
There is nothing more that says "I am punctual and powerful" then when a women wears a nice time piece. This also reminds me, be at least 15 minuets early to your interview. Sit in your car if you have to just do not be late!

4. Get a mani
Nothing is worse then seeing poorly groomed fingernails when shaking someones hand for the first time. NO CRAZY COLORS! Keep it sophisticated with an OPI 'Pinking of You' or 'Samoan Sand'. If you are wearing an opened toe shoe get a pedi as well...Please!
5. SMILE
A great smile is always the icing on the cake! Wear a light gloss, get some Crest White Strips and you are good to go!

Kelli is heading off to her dream job interview at an architectural firm. I put her in a chic and simple black dress with a thin patent leather belt. Jewelry is minimal with studded diamond earrings, a silver watch and a silver Tiffany ring. Her outfit is completed with a black suede pump and a leather portfolio.
